‘To encourage the continuing interest in the history of the local area and of Welsh history in general by hosting regular talks and other events and by the use of modern technology.’
WHAT WE DO
Pontypridd Historical Society exists to foster the continuing interest in the history of Pontypridd and the surrounding area as well as Wales in general and all things with a Welsh connection worldwide.
We regularly have excellent talks on a wide range of topics covering industrial, sociological, economic, political, geographical and religious history. These talks are held on the first Wednesday of the month, excluding August at 7:30pm in the Lower Room at the Pontypridd Museum next to the Old Bridge in Pontypridd.
Due to the pandemic from April 2021 until further notice we are hosting talks at the same time via Zoom software together with the Rhondda Cynon Taff events team. Please register for these talks on our upcoming talks page.
Our talks are open to all and last around an hour and are followed by a lively question and answer session when everyone is encouraged to contribute in order to debate the topic further.
The Society also arranges occasional visits to sites of interest around the local area.
Personal information is provided on this site solely to acknowledge the contributions made by speakers at our monthly talks and to provide brief information of our key Officers. No details of society members or visitors to our talks are recorded.
